DECO
The original chocolate port. That’s right, we started it in 1994 and many have tried to follow us. It all came about by accident, in all sincerity. Bill Reading, the found of Sonoma Portworks, wanted to capture dark chocolate and wine in a bottle. After weeks and weeks of numerous attempts with dark chocolate and table wines, and failure after failure, Bill sat down at the end of a long day of trials, grabbed a piece of dark chocolate, and poured a glass of port. Then the lightbulb went off. . . PORT, he had not tried Port as the base for his wine. The next day, he went on a hunt for good port samples and went back to the drawing board. Not too long after, DECO Port with essences of dark chocolate was created. The same recipe has been used since its inception.
This wine has been a fan favorite and continues to be one of our best sellers. The chocolate is subtle and mostly picked up in the finish. The chocolate is a natural flavor made specifically for this wine and is added to the base port just before bottling.
To describe this wine, we say dark chocolate delights your senses from the first sniff to every sip and all the way through the lingering finish. Cherry, blueberry, and espresso on the finish complement this after-dinner wine’s signature rich chocolate flavor. Pairs beautifully with Barely Buzzed Cheddar Cheese from Beehive Cheese. A Utah cheddar that has been rolled in lavender and ground espresso beans. This wine works great in some of our crafty cocktails, so be sure to check out our Recipes & Pairings page for inspiration. 375ml
